eSIM Activation Guide

Follow this guide to install and activate your China Travel eSIM. The whole process takes about 3 minutes. Please make sure your phone is eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked before you start.

Before You Start

  • Install the eSIM before your trip while you have a stable Wi-Fi connection (internet is required during activation).
  • Find the eSIM email we sent you after purchase — it contains your QR code, SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code.
  • Do not delete the eSIM once installed. Each QR code can only be used once.

Method 1: Scan the QR Code (Recommended)

  1. Go to Settings → Cellular (Mobile Data) → Add eSIM.
  2. Choose "Use QR Code".
  3. Scan the eSIM QR code from your email (open the email on another device, or print it out).
  4. Tap Continue when "Activate eSIM" appears — your new eSIM is now activating. An internet connection is required during activation.

Method 2: Enter Details Manually

If you can't scan the QR code (e.g. the email is on the same phone), enter the details manually:

  1. On the "Add eSIM" scan screen, tap "Enter Details Manually" at the bottom.
  2. Copy & paste the information from your eSIM email into the matching fields, then tap Next:
    Field What to enter
    SM-DP+ Address The server address from your email (e.g. rsp-eu.simlessly.com)
    Activation Code The activation code from your email
    Confirmation Code Leave blank — not required

⚠️ Make sure there are no spaces or extra characters before or after each field when pasting.

After Activation: 2 More Steps to Get Online!

Installing the eSIM is not enough — complete these 2 steps to connect to the internet:

Step 1: Set this eSIM as your Cellular Data line

  1. Go to Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data.
  2. Select the eSIM you just installed (the number starting with +1).
  3. ❌ Do NOT turn on "Allow Cellular Data Switching".

Step 2: Turn ON Data Roaming for this eSIM (very important!)

  1. In the SIMs list (Settings → Cellular), tap your new eSIM.
  2. Make sure "Turn On This Line" is ON.
  3. Scroll down and enable "Data Roaming". ✅

If your phone menus look different (Samsung, Pixel, etc.), search "your phone model + how to switch cellular data" or "your phone model + how to turn on data roaming" — the principle is the same.

Tips for Use in China

  • No VPN needed — Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube and other global apps work directly on this eSIM.
  • The eSIM works across Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau with one plan.
  • Your plan's validity starts when the eSIM connects to a supported network. Keep your primary SIM active for calls & texts if needed.
